The American Cancer Society (ACS) works to improve the lives of people with cancer and their families through research, advocacy, prevention, early detection, and patient support. Its goal is to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat, and survive cancer. ACS also helps patients and caregivers navigate treatment, access reliable information and support services, and advocates for policies that improve cancer care and reduce disparities.

Current ACS-funded research includes 182 breast cancer grants, 103 lung cancer grants, 95 colorectal cancer grants, and 67 pancreatic cancer grants, among many others.
ACS has published its widely used Cancer Facts & Figures report annually since 1951
