Day 25: Empowering Future Engineers

SHPE at CMU

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers chapter at Colorado Mesa University helps Hispanic and other underrepresented STEM students succeed academically, professionally, and personally.

The chapter connects students with tutoring, career preparation, industry professionals, scholarships, networking opportunities, and community service. Its goal is to help students build the skills, confidence, and professional connections needed to thrive in engineering and science careers while also strengthening the STEM community in Grand Junction. Membership is open to all CMU students interested in STEM.

Impact

  • Has 25+ active members and hosts 10+ events each year

  • Has been active at CMU for over 5 years

  • Provides resume workshops, mock interviews, career-fair prep, tutoring, and study groups

  • Provides opportunities for scholarships and interviews with Fortune 500 companies

  • Participates in STEM outreach and community service in Grand Junction
